Pickleball Court Dimensions: Size, Lines & Net Height

Pickleball court dimensions

A regulation pickleball court measures 20 feet wide by 44 feet long for both singles and doubles. The playing rectangle covers 880 square feet (20 × 44). USA Pickleball's rules and equipment page links the current rulebook that defines the court and net.

Pickleball net width and height

The net itself should be at least 21 feet 9 inches long, spanning the 20-foot-wide court and extending beyond the sidelines. The posts are placed about 22 feet apart. Under USA Pickleball's 2026 rulebook, the top of the net is 36 inches at the sidelines and 34 inches at the center. Those heights are measured from the playing surface.

Lines and court layout

The non-volley zone, often called the kitchen, extends 7 feet from the net on each side, across the full 20-foot court width. Behind it, the service area on each side is divided into right and left courts by the centerline and ends at the baseline.

For a regulation layout, use the court's inside dimensions and mark all lines consistently. The required playing rectangle is 20 × 44 feet; additional space beyond the baselines and sidelines is needed for safe movement and depends on the facility.
